Tomorrow is Mother’s Day. More than that tomorrow the first Mother’s Day for Francesca, Alexander’s mom. Alex and I conspired to make it a special day for her, along with seeing my family in New York City, so it should be a lot of fun. I have to say, Mother’s Day was made for moms like Francesca. Alexander is her heart and soul and it is the most amazing thing to witness on a daily basis.
When Francesca and I first began dating I started making her mix CD’s, as any music fanatic with a big heart is likely to do. The first CD was made with many songs I loved that I thought she would like, with a little more thought behind it, but by in large it was a CD introducing her to music that I liked. As the mix CD’s continued I put more and more thought into them; I wanted to tell her something using someone else’s poetry. I kicked the second CD off with “My Love Will Not Let You Down” by Bruce Springsteen, my favorite Bruce song by a long shot. It was my way of telling her I’d be there for her no matter what.
And so, on her first Mother’s Day, I wanted to post this song with Francesca in mind. It makes me think of her every time I play it. Watching her be Mommy over the past eight months has made this song even more meaningful to me. It now applies to Francesca and our little one. I plan to spend the rest of my life living the title of this song when it comes to my family.
This version is taken from Bruce’s 2001 live record Live at Madison Square Garden. I think there is a studio version of this track released on a greatest hits record, but the live version is the only one I have heard and it is amazing.

It was definitely a special first Mother's Day. Perfect song to wrap up the day...
